Start with the individual
History, health, early experiences and daily routine all shape how a dog responds to stress. Breed can offer context, but your individual dog’s body language matters more than a label.

Pair very mild versions of a trigger with rewards while your dog stays comfortable. Avoid flooding, punishment or forcing greetings; a qualified behavior professional can guide you.
Adapt sniffing walks, play, rest and food puzzles to age and health. Practice brief, easy separations before increasing time alone.
Pacing, trembling, lip licking, tucked posture, repeated barking or trying to escape can signal discomfort. Panting can also reflect heat or illness.
Seek veterinary help for sudden changes, persistent distress or self-injury. Breathing difficulty, collapse or heat distress are emergencies.
A gentle layer of support
Alongside appropriate care, try brief, low-volume sessions while you’re present. Your animal should always be able to move away. Stop if sound or interaction increases distress.
Music research in dogs and cats suggests benefits in some settings. Hushimal itself and its specific frequencies have not been clinically validated for this breed.
