Use non-slip surfaces and quiet, patient handling. Remove distractions and avoid shouting or chasing.
Provide adequate feed and water access, shade, ventilation and a clean, comfortable resting area.
Repeated calling, escape attempts, tense movement, avoidance or reduced feeding can indicate distress. Changes in production are nonspecific.
Breathing difficulty, inability to rise, injury or abrupt behavior changes need veterinary assessment. Never enter an unsafe pen to deliver calming touch.
A gentle layer of support
Alongside appropriate care, try brief, low-volume sessions while you’re present. Your animal should always be able to move away. Stop if sound or interaction increases distress.
